HPE Acquires Juniper Networks for $14 Billion

The deal, expected to close by late 2024, will double HPE's networking business and is seen as a challenge to market leader Cisco.

Hewlett Packard Enterprise Co. (HPE) has agreed to acquire Juniper Networks Inc. for $14 billion, a move that will double the size of HPE's networking business.
The deal, which is expected to close by late 2024 or early 2025, is being financed by HPE through term loans that will be replaced over time with new debt, mandatory convertible preferred securities, and cash.
Juniper's CEO Rami Rahim will lead the combined networking business and report to HPE's CEO Antonio Neri once the deal is closed.
The acquisition is seen as a challenge to market leader Cisco, with HPE aiming to leverage Juniper's cutting-edge networking and AI technology with its own sales channel.
HPE's shares fell 7% following the announcement of the deal, with skepticism from investors and shareholders due to the company's decision to finance the purchase by adding $10 billion-$12 billion in debt.
