Hoy No Circula Operates Normally in Mexico City as Plate-Based Limits Continue

CAMe did not declare an ozone contingency, so the rotating plate‑and‑hologram restrictions remain in force.

Overview

  • The program continued ordinary operation with no CAMe ozone contingency, meaning standard daily limits applied across CDMX and the 18 adjacent municipalities.
  • On Monday 27 July the restriction covered hologram 1 and 2 vehicles with yellow stickers and plate endings 5 or 6, and on Tuesday 28 July it covered hologram 1 and 2 with pink stickers and plate endings 7 or 8.
  • Exemptions include vehicles with holograms 00 and 0, electric and hybrid cars, taxis, motorcycles, public transport, heavy cargo and authorized health vehicles.
  • Authorities monitor air quality with the IMECA index and will trigger contingency protocols if levels exceed 150 points for Fase 1 or 200 points for Fase 2, while enforcement can include fines and vehicle impoundment under local traffic rules.
  • Drivers are advised to check the official Sedema/CAMe calendar or SMS alerts before travel and to use Metro, Metrobús, RTP, Trolebús or ECOBICI as alternatives when their vehicle is restricted.
