Hoy No Circula: Monday Ban Hits Plates 5–6; Tuesday Set for 7–8 Across CDMX and Edomex

  • For Monday, December 29, vehicles with yellow sticker, plates ending in 5 or 6, and verification holograms 1 and 2 are restricted from 05:00 to 22:00 across the Mexico City metro area.
  • For Tuesday, December 30, the restriction applies to pink sticker vehicles with plates ending in 7 or 8 and holograms 1 and 2 in both CDMX and the State of Mexico.
  • Exempt vehicles include those with holograms 0 and 00, electric and hybrid cars, motorcycles, taxis, public transport, authorized emergency and disability-permit vehicles, and certain school, medical and permitted cargo units.
  • Penalties for noncompliance are typically 20–30 UMAs (about 2,075–3,113 MXN), with possible towing, and drivers can verify eligibility at hoynocircula.cdmx.gob.mx.
  • State officials say Edomex will begin tighter street operations from January 1, 2026 in the Valle de Toluca and Santiago Tianguistenco regions, with a 20 UMA fine for violations and 30 UMAs for late verification; CAMe may expand restrictions if a contingency is declared.
