Overview
- The July 15 ban bars cars with pink stickers, license plates ending in 7 or 8, holograms 1 and 2, and foreign vehicles from 05:00 to 22:00 across 16 alcaldías in Mexico City and 18 State of Mexico municipalities.
- Vehicles with holograms 0 or 00, hybrids, electric models and those meeting low-emission criteria continue to be exempt from daily restrictions.
- Non-compliance incurs fines ranging from 20 to 30 UMAs (approximately 2,075 to 3,113 pesos) and may result in vehicle impoundment.
- Air-quality monitoring reports remain within acceptable levels, preventing activation of the ‘Doble Hoy No Circula’ escalation measure.
- Since July 1, the Hoy No Circula program has expanded to cover the Valle de Toluca and Santiago Tianguistenco metropolitan areas as part of a regional effort to curb emissions.
