Overview
- Vehicles with verification hologram 1 or 2 bearing the red sticker and plate endings 3 and 4, as well as foreign and permit-only vehicles, may not circulate today.
- The program is in force across Mexico City and specified State of Mexico municipalities, including Ecatepec, Naucalpan, Nezahualcóyotl, Tlalnepantla, Cuautitlán Izcalli, Atizapán, Tecámac, Tultitlán and Valle de Chalco.
- Exempt vehicles include those with holograms 00 and 0, electric and hybrid cars, motorcycles, taxis, public transport and cargo units, plus authorized health workers’ vehicles with the official card.
- Traffic officers can stop noncompliant drivers, send vehicles to an impound lot and issue penalties ranging from roughly 2,074.80 to 3,112.20 pesos under the CDMX traffic code.
- Local outlets also flagged planned transporters’ protests that could cause separate traffic disruptions unrelated to the Hoy No Circula rules.
