Overview
- Cars with green sticker, plate endings 1 and 2, and verification holograms 1 or 2, including those on provisional permits, must stay off the road on Sept. 25.
- The program applies in the 16 Mexico City boroughs and in designated State of Mexico municipalities, with coverage extended to Valle de Toluca and Santiago Tianguistenco.
- Vehicles with holograms 00 and 0, as well as electric, hybrid and passenger-transport units, are exempt per the environmental commission.
- Violations can lead to vehicle detention, impoundment and fines ranging from 2,074.80 to 3,112.20 pesos under traffic regulations.
- Cars verified in Estado de México, Hidalgo, Morelos, Puebla and Tlaxcala follow the same criteria due to homologated verification rules, and officials say any broader program changes remain under review.
