  • The project will feature over 2,000 bald cypress trees planted in a grid to evoke soldiers in formation, along with restored prairie and savanna habitats.
  • Design elements will include historical nods such as unearthed camp foundations, reflective water features, and earthworks inspired by trench designs.
  • Recreational amenities like walking and cycling trails, a children’s playground, picnic areas, and a visitor center are also planned.
  • Construction is set to begin in 2026, with $25 million already secured from donors including the Kinder Foundation, John L. Nau III, and the Brown Foundation.
