Houston Resident Fatally Shoots Armed Intruder After Wrestling Away Gun

The Harris County District Attorney’s Office is reviewing the case as investigators determine if the home invasion was targeted or random.

A Houston apartment resident shot and killed an 18-year-old intruder during a home invasion after wrestling a gun away from the suspect.
Three masked burglars targeted the apartment on Westridge Street near NRG Stadium, breaking in through a window around 9 p.m. on April 9, 2025.
The confrontation escalated when the intruder pulled a second firearm, leading to the resident seizing the weapon and using it in self-defense.
Two accomplices fled the scene before police arrived, and their identities remain unknown as the investigation continues.
The case is under active review by the Harris County District Attorney’s Office, with a grand jury set to evaluate the incident's circumstances.
