Overview
- An opening ceremony on Nov. 6 brought Mayor John Whitmire together with Aga Khan V to dedicate the first U.S. Ismaili Center, the seventh worldwide.
- The center plans to open to the public in December, with community welcome events set for Dec. 12–13.
- The five-story, 150,000-square-foot complex occupies about 11 acres at Allen Parkway and Montrose, featuring gardens, courtyards and shaded promenades.
- Architect Farshid Moussavi led the design with landscape by Thomas Woltz of Nelson Byrd Woltz, working alongside AKT II, DLR Group and McCarthy Building Companies.
- Leaders have not disclosed the final cost; a 2021 Texas filing estimated $176.2 million, and the property is owned by the Aga Khan Foundation USA.
