• Police say the shooting happened around 11 p.m. Friday on Bellnole Drive in southeast Houston.
• The men claimed to have a warrant and wore bulletproof vests, ski masks, and badges, but a Ring camera and the lack of marked patrol cars or emergency lights raised doubts.
• According to HPD, the suspects fired through the door first and the homeowner returned fire, leaving both men dead at the scene.
• The homeowner was not injured, and a child inside the residence was unharmed, authorities and local reports said.
