House Republicans Plan Bill for Charlie Kirk Commemorative Silver Dollar

Announced but not yet filed, the measure would put the 2026 coin’s design under Treasury review in consultation with President Trump.

Overview

  • Reps. August Pfluger and Abe Hamadeh say they will introduce the Charlie Kirk Commemorative Coin Act directing the minting of 400,000 silver dollar coins.
  • The coins would be legal tender dated 2026, with Kirk’s image on one side and the inscription “Well done, good and faithful servant” on the other.
  • Draft language specifies inscriptions including his full name, “Charles James Kirk,” the United States’ name and motto, and standard legends such as “Liberty” and “In God We Trust.”
  • The Treasury secretary would choose the final design in consultation with the president, and coverage notes the longstanding 1866 prohibition on depicting living people on U.S. currency.
  • The proposal is part of broader GOP efforts to memorialize Kirk, following bipartisan resolutions denouncing his assassination and plans ranging from a national day of remembrance to requests for medals and a Capitol statue.
