James Comer, Chairman of the House Oversight Committee, has issued subpoenas to several associates connected to the Biden family, including Hunter Biden’s art dealer and figures related to loans received by the Biden family.
These subpoenas are part of a wider Republican impeachment investigation into President Biden. The allegations suggest the president could have had inappropriate involvement in his son’s business dealings and received specific funds from his brother.
Eric Schwerin, a long-standing friend and business associate of Hunter Biden, and Mervyn Yan, who may have insights into Hunter Biden's dealings with Chinese energy firm CEFC, have been subpoenaed.
Comer is also investigating Hunter Biden's high-cost art sales, igniting interest in the identities of the art buyers. This comes after the panel sought transcribed interviews with George Bergès, Hunter Biden's art dealer, who refused to comply, resulting in a subpoena.
Meanwhile, fresh allegations have emerged against Comer himself. Reports suggest that Comer may have been involved in potentially dubious business dealings with his own brother.
