House Education Committee Holds Hearing on Rising Antisemitism on College Campuses

Focus on Pro-Palestinian Protests and Antisemitic Threats Amid Gaza War

House Education Committee's Subcommittee on Higher Education and Workforce Development is holding a hearing on antisemitism on college campuses, focusing on pro-Palestinian protests and a spike in antisemitic threats following the beginning of the war in Gaza last month.
Testimonies will be heard from Rabbi Moshe Hauer, executive vice president of the Orthodox Union, and other antisemitism experts.
House Republicans are making antisemitism on college campuses a new oversight priority amid a reported increase of antisemitic activity on college campuses that has included at least one terrorist threat.
Rep. Burgess Owens (R-UT), the subcommittee's chairman, said the hearing is part of the committee's commitment to ensure that students are afforded a safe learning environment.
The higher education subcommittee's hearing will be followed by another hearing on Wednesday by the House Ways and Means Committee that will focus on the increase of pro-Hamas and antisemitic activity on college campuses, as well as on any possible ties between terrorist groups and U.S.-based organizations.
