Overview

  • The victims’ collective and the CFCV platform launched a secure, free hotline on July 17 to support survivors, co-victims and trial participants on weekdays from 10:00 to 19:00 under Health Ministry oversight.
  • After the early July suicide of defense lawyer Maxime Tessier, the hotline’s scope was extended beyond survivors and co-victims to include all professionals involved in the trial.
  • On July 18 the Lorient prosecutor opened an information judiciaire against X on charges of willful failure to prevent crimes, building on a 2020 preliminary investigation.
  • Magistrates are empowered to conduct additional acts of inquiry using new evidence from the trial to identify individuals or institutions that overlooked warning signs.
  • During the trial, the National Council of the Medical Order and other bodies acknowledged failures that allowed Le Scouarnec to practice after a 2005 child-pornography conviction.
