Hotfix 34 Brings Native Steam Deck Build to Baldur’s Gate 3, Plus Performance Gains for All Platforms

The project started after hours by a single Larian engineer.

Overview

  • The update is live and replaces the Proton-dependent version on Steam Deck with a native build that delivers a steadier framerate, faster loads, and smoother play while using less CPU and memory.
  • Changes to model and asset streaming reduce framerate spikes in busy locations across platforms, with Larian citing the Lower City in Act 3 as an example.
  • On Steam Deck, save files move to a new native folder, recent saves sync via Steam Cloud if enabled, and players can migrate mods automatically by logging into a Larian account linked to mod.io.
  • Beyond the handheld upgrades, Hotfix 34 (console version 1.800.502) fixes crashes and hangs, tunes gameplay quirks, and resolves numerous audio and cinematic issues, including several Xbox-specific problems.
  • Larian notes the native build effectively runs on Linux through SteamOS but the studio does not provide Linux platform support.
