Hospital Admissions Rise in Berlin and Brandenburg

The number of patients treated in hospitals increased by 2.7% last year but remains below pre-pandemic levels.

Approximately 1.25 million people were treated in hospitals across Berlin and Brandenburg last year, marking a 2.7% increase compared to the previous year.
Despite the rise, the number of hospitalizations is still 13.5% lower than in 2019, when 1.45 million cases were reported.
Heart disease was the most common reason for hospital stays in both Berlin and Brandenburg.
In Berlin, intestinal diseases ranked as the second leading cause for hospitalizations, while in Brandenburg, osteoarthritis was the second most frequent condition.
The data was reported by the Statistics Office of Berlin-Brandenburg, highlighting a gradual recovery in hospital activity post-pandemic.
