Kerry Condon stars as Eve Waller, the matriarch of the family. This is Condon's first venture into the horror genre, and she expressed newfound respect for horror actors after her experience on the film.
The film is the first to be released under the joint banner of Blumhouse and Atomic Monster, following their recent merger.
McGuire drew inspiration for the film from his childhood fears and the movie Jaws. He believes that swimming pools can contain 'deep and dark secrets.'
