Overview

• Six members of the Shankarbati Barowari Durga Puja Committee were returning from Patuapara late Friday when their car lost control descending the Chandannagar rail overbridge at Anantapur.
• Two occupants died at the scene and a third died at Chandannagar Sub-Divisional Hospital, with the remaining three under treatment in Chinsurah and one referred to SSKM Hospital in Kolkata.
• The deceased have been identified as Bhaskar Debdhara, 29, Pritam Chakraborty, 30, and Swapan Dey, 40.
• Chandannagar and Polba police stations responded, recovered the vehicle, and scheduled autopsies at Chinsurah Imambara Hospital.
• Police cite preliminary evidence of speeding, and liquor bottles were found in the car as the formal investigation continues.
