Overview
- Honor unveiled the Magic 9 series in China, positioning the Magic 9 Pro Max as a camera-first flagship that blends professional film workflows with consumer hardware.
- The phone ships with ARRI-driven camera software that supports LogC3, 14 preset ARRI Look LUTs plus access to ARRI’s wider LUT library, and the APV 10-bit 4:2:2 codec for cinema-grade color and files.
- Hardware centers on dual 200MP sensors—a 1/1.28-inch main unit and a 1/1.4-inch 3.5x telephoto—plus a 50MP ultrawide; Honor says some ARRI cinema features are not available on the ultrawide lens.
- Design changes borrowed from ARRI include a three-lens turret-style camera island and a knurled main lens collar, and Honor used the island layout to free space for an 8,800mAh battery.
- The Pro Max runs on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 but does not enable the chip’s top-end capture modes, and Honor has confirmed a planned international launch without giving a date.
