Honor Launches Magic9 Pro Max as a Handheld Cinema System

The China-only release pairs ARRI’s LogC3 color tools with dual 200MP sensors, Honor’s H1 imaging chip, and an 8,800mAh battery to bring pro video workflows to a smartphone.

  • The Magic9 Pro Max, which launched Monday, Sept. 28, is on sale in China with prices starting at CNY 6,499 for the 12GB/256GB model.
  • Honor and ARRI integrated cinema tools including ARRI LogC3, ARRI Wide Gamut 3, 14 preset ARRI Looks, access to ARRI’s LUT library, and APV 10-bit 4:2:2 codec support for mobile video capture.
  • The phone’s hardware centers on two 200MP rear sensors (main and periscope telephoto), a 50MP ultra-wide, a 55MP front camera, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6, and Honor’s H1 imaging chip for RAW-domain processing.
  • Honor built the device around an 8,800mAh silicon-carbon battery with 100W wired and 80W wireless charging and added high ingress and scratch-resistance certifications to support long shooting sessions.
  • Honor is selling optional pro accessories such as teleconverters and a SmallRig mobile video kit and has confirmed plans to roll the phone out to Europe, the Middle East and Africa, and Southeast Asia without firm dates while not committing to a U.S. launch.
