Overview
- The zip wire runs about 1,200 metres from Honister Crag to the valley and reaches speeds up to 65 mph, making it the longest in England.
- Operators built the system to serve as both an adrenaline attraction and a practical ropeway that will carry extracted slate down the mountain.
- The project followed more than 15 years of planning and opened during the Weir family’s 30th anniversary of owning and redeveloping Honister, with the business now run by Mark Weir’s sons Prentice and Piers Wilkinson Weir.
- Tickets for the roughly 60‑second experience start at about £110 and initial operations will run with a limited number of riders this year.
