Hong Kong Unveils Central New Year Countdown With Music-and-Light Spectacle and Global Livestream

HKTB outlines satellite distribution, citywide viewing sites, crowd measures for the Dec. 31 event.

  • The live broadcast runs 23:35–24:10 HKT on Dec. 31 with a satellite signal test scheduled for 20:00–20:15 HKT for global media carriage.
  • The Chater Road Pedestrian Precinct show adopts the theme "New Hopes, New Beginnings" and blends live music with an immersive light performance.
  • Air Supply headlines the lineup alongside Jay Fung, Cloud Wan, a children's choir, and the Hong Kong Police Band.
  • Police will begin phased road closures around Chater Road at about 6 pm on Dec. 31, and Winter Wonderland in Central will close at 4 pm as part of crowd and safety arrangements.
  • Large outdoor screens at Chater Garden and Edinburgh Place, a façade projection at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre, and a giant countdown clock on the Convention and Exhibition Centre will extend viewing, with the event supported by Hongkong Land and post-event media assets available from Jan. 1 at 03:00 HKT.
