Hong Kong Under T10 Typhoon Warning as Super Typhoon Ragasa Nears

  • All Wednesday flights to and from Hong Kong were canceled or deferred, schools were shut, and transport services were reduced or halted as the storm approached.
  • Gusts reached at least 206 km/h at Ngong Ping and waves nearing five meters hit the waterfront, according to on-scene observations and meteorological data.
  • Authorities opened 46 temporary shelters and warned low-lying areas about flooding, while work, teaching and transport were suspended in roughly a dozen southern Chinese cities including Shenzhen.
