A 61-year-old Hong Kong tourist was fatally struck by a train in Otaru, Hokkaido, after stepping onto the tracks to take photos of the ocean.
The accident occurred near Asari Station on the Hakodate Line, in an off-limits area roughly 50 meters from a railway crossing.
Train services were temporarily suspended, affecting 19 trains and approximately 8,200 passengers as a result of the incident.
