Honda Recalls 256,603 Accord Hybrids for Software Fault That Can Cut Power

A faulty software reset in the control module can cut drive power while the car is moving.

Overview

  • Recall covers U.S. Accord Hybrid models from 2023 through 2025, according to filings with NHTSA.
  • Owners can check affected Vehicle Identification Numbers on NHTSA.gov starting Nov. 18, 2025, using Honda recall number TN2 or by calling 888-234-2138.
  • Dealers will fix the issue by reprogramming the integrated control module software at no cost, with owner notification letters scheduled for Jan. 5, 2026.
  • Honda reports 832 related warranty claims through Nov. 6, 2025, and no injuries or deaths reported from Dec. 14, 2022 through Oct. 31, 2025.
  • Honda estimates about 0.3% of recalled vehicles have the defect, which it attributes to improper supplier programming, and says its investigation began after a report in March 2024.
