Honda Recalls 256,000 Accord Hybrids Over Software Fault That Can Cut Power

Owners will get a free dealer software update following Honda's finding of a supplier programming flaw.

Overview

  • The recall covers certain 2023–2025 Accord Hybrids built from Nov. 11, 2022 to Oct. 24, 2025, and does not include gas-only Accords.
  • A defect in the integrated control module can reset the CPU while the car is moving, causing a sudden loss of drive power and increasing crash risk.
  • Dealers will reprogram the ICM software at no charge, VINs are now searchable on NHTSA.gov, and owner notices are scheduled for Jan. 5, 2026.
  • Honda attributes the issue to improper software programming by a supplier and says a production fix was implemented on Oct. 24, 2025.
  • Honda reports 832 related warranty claims with no injuries and estimates about 0.3% of the 256,603 vehicles may actually exhibit the fault.
