- As the 'Man' effigy began to burn around 9:14 p.m. on Aug. 30, a participant flagged down a deputy who found a white adult male unresponsive on the ground.
- Pershing County deputies, BLM rangers, Black Rock Rangers and the Washoe County forensics team secured a perimeter, processed the scene and interviewed nearby attendees.
- Officials have not confirmed the victim’s identity and reported no cause of death, suspects or arrests; the body was transported to the Washoe County Medical Examiner’s Office.
- Organizers said they are cooperating with law enforcement, asked participants not to interfere, and noted on-site support services and free Wi‑Fi for communications.
