Overview

• A legally designated exclusion area of about 150 acres with a 2.3‑mile perimeter now surrounds Forest Lodge in Windsor Great Park, following an order made on 4 September and laid before Parliament on 8 September.
• Physical security upgrades include a large wooden perimeter fence, new CCTV cameras, additional planting for privacy and wiring works, with warning signs due to be installed.
• Public access has been permanently withdrawn at Cranbourne Gate and its paid car park, with further closures reported at Sandpit Gate, Woodend Gate and South Forest.
• Windsor Great Park members affected by the closures were notified and offered the option to cancel their memberships, while some local residents voiced frustration over the short notice and loss of long‑used walking routes.
• The boundary was agreed by the Home Office, Thames Valley Police and the Royal Household without public consultation, as William and Kate prepare to move to Forest Lodge later this year.
