The relocation frees the British-era North and South Blocks for transformation into the Yuge Yugeen Bharat National Museum.

Overview

  • About a quarter of MHA divisions have moved into approximately 350 rooms in the new CCS-3 building, including the office of Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan.
  • Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s office remains in North Block as the phased shift of remaining staff continues.
  • Construction on CCS-1, CCS-2 and CCS-3 is 88% complete and remains on schedule for September 2025 handover.
  • CCS-3 is set to house the Office of the Principal Scientific Adviser alongside the ministries of External Affairs, Petroleum and Natural Gas, MSME, Rural Development and DoPT.
  • Once fully vacated, the North and South Blocks will be repurposed into the Yuge Yugeen Bharat National Museum showcasing 25,000–30,000 artefacts.
