'Home Improvement' Actor Zachery Ty Bryan Pleads Guilty to Felony Assault, Sentenced to 7 Days in Jail
Deal includes suspension of longer prison sentence, three years probation, and mandatory alcohol and substance abuse treatment; Bryan's arrest record includes past domestic violence and DUI offences.
- Zachery Ty Bryan, known for his role on 'Home Improvement', pleaded guilty to fourth-degree felony assault in an Oregon court, stemming from a domestic violence dispute in July.
- Bryan accepted a negotiated resolution to avoid the initially proposed 19 to 20 months in Oregon Department of Corrections. Instead, he received seven days in jail, 36 months of supervised probation, and is required to seek treatment for alcohol and substance abuse.
- Conditional to the resolution, Bryan must not contact the victim without his probation officer's approval, violate any terms of his deal, or use alcohol or drugs. If these conditions are violated, Bryan will face the initial 19 to 20 months of prison time.
- Bryan's lawyer, John Kolego, stated his client accepted this resolution to spare his family further trauma and enable them to move on and heal.
- This is not Bryan's first encounter with legal issues. He was previously charged with similar assault in 2020 and DUI offences are also in his records. He also faced legal trouble from failed business ventures.
