Overview
- The Home Front Command, which began rolling out the system Tuesday, will issue preliminary warnings for rockets and missiles launched from Lebanon when sensors and timing permit.
- Alerts will be sent through the Home Front Command app, the CB personal message platform, the National Emergency Portal and the command’s Telegram channels using push notifications.
- Warning lead-times vary by location: several seconds at border communities, up to about one minute in northern Israel and roughly two minutes in the rest of the country.
- Officials stressed the system is conditional and imperfect, warning that sirens may sound without a pre-alert and that a pre-alert may not always be followed by a siren, so people must immediately enter protected spaces when any alert sounds.
- The change responds to increased cross-border exchanges with Hezbollah since early March and could give civilians slightly more preparation time while the military continues to refine detection and delivery of warnings.
