Officials have identified the victim as Celeste Rivas Hernandez, with no suspects named as the inquiry continues.

Overview

  • The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner confirmed the remains as 15-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez, reported missing from Lake Elsinore since April 2024.
  • Tow-yard workers reported a foul odor on Sept. 8; officers opened the Tesla’s front trunk and found a bag containing human remains described by authorities as a head and torso.
  • LAPD’s Robbery-Homicide Division says it has not received a coroner crime classification and has not identified suspects, and investigators executed a search at a Hollywood Hills residence.
  • The Tesla, bearing Texas plates and registered to musician David Anthony Burke (D4vd), was impounded after being reported abandoned, with neighbors saying it had sat for weeks in the area.
  • A representative says D4vd is cooperating; a Seattle tour stop was canceled, and brands including Crocs and Hollister paused campaign content, as a collaborator said she is removing a joint track from streaming.
