Hockley Man Arrested in Cypress PNC Bank Robbery

Federal and county task forces used surveillance video plus a vehicle registration to identify a suspect who was on parole for a 2012 bank robbery.

Overview

  • Last Friday a man entered the PNC branch on Cypress Rose Hill Road, told a teller he had a weapon, took cash and fled on foot with no injuries reported.
  • Investigators reviewed bank surveillance that showed a white Ford Crown Victoria and a license plate tied to a Hockley address, which led them to the suspect.
  • Law enforcement obtained an arrest warrant and on Wednesday FBI Houston’s Violent Crime Task Force, the Gulf Coast Violent Offenders Task Force, and Harris County deputies arrested Samuel Everrett Williams at his Hockley home.
  • Williams was booked into the Harris County Jail and authorities say he was on parole for a 2012 bank robbery; officials have not disclosed how much money was taken or whether a weapon was actually shown.
  • Prosecutors will decide charges next and the case could prompt review of parole supervision and public records releases that may clarify the prior conviction and other details.
