Overview
- The incident occurred around 10:45am when a city-bound HGV carrying scrap cars overturned at the Hockley Circus roundabout on Hunters Road.
- Several scrap vehicles spilled onto the carriageway and one crashed into railings, prompting partial closure of the A41 southbound exit and the roundabout’s eastern side.
- West Midlands Police, Ambulance Service and Fire Service crews secured the scene and attended to the driver, who suffered minor injuries and was taken to hospital.
- National Express West Midlands rerouted four bus services—routes 16, 74, 8A and 8C—via the flyover and alternative streets during the cleanup.
- West Midlands Roads announced at 4pm that debris removal was complete and normal traffic patterns had resumed ahead of evening peak hours.
