Overview

  • Hockey Canada has invited 92 athletes—42 NHL players, 30 women’s players and 20 Para athletes—to off-ice orientation camps in Calgary from Aug. 26 to 28.
  • The three-day camps will feature presentations, team-building exercises, strategic meetings and media opportunities as the first formal step in selection.
  • Canada’s men’s group includes 26 forwards, 13 defensemen and three goaltenders, highlighted by the six players previously locked in by the IIHF and the 4 Nations Face-Off goaltending trio.
  • The women’s roster comprises 16 forwards, 10 defenders and four goalies, among them 17 athletes who won gold at the 2022 Beijing Olympics.
  • Senior vice-president Scott Salmond described the camps as the initial push toward winning three Olympic and Paralympic golds, with final 25-man and 23-woman rosters to be decided after NHL season evaluations.
