Hoax Bomb Threat Emails Target Over 40 Indian Airports

Criminal intimidation cases have been filed after full-scale sweeps found no explosives, prompting a cyber investigation into the anonymous emails.

Overview

  • Between June 29 and July 1, at least 18 airports from Indore and Jabalpur to Patna received emails claiming bombs hidden in backpacks, signed by “Roadkill” and “Kyo.”
  • Security forces including CISF, BDDS, ATS, local police and fire brigades evacuated terminals and conducted comprehensive sweeps at each threatened site.
  • No explosives or suspicious materials were discovered during the exhaustive searches at any of the targeted airports.
  • FIRs under sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for criminal intimidation have been registered against unknown individuals.
  • Cybercrime teams are tracing email headers from addresses such as [email protected] and [email protected] to determine if the threats form part of a coordinated campaign.
