Overview
- HMRC reports nearly 18,000 Time to Pay arrangements have been set up since 6 April 2025.
- Taxpayers must file their Self Assessment return before creating a plan, and those owing over £30,000 must contact HMRC to discuss terms.
- HMRC encourages early filing so customers can see what they owe sooner, with any balance still due by 31 January 2026.
- Payments can be made via the free HMRC app or on GOV.UK, which also provides step-by-step guidance and videos.
- Simple Assessment letters for 2024–25 retain the 31 January 2026 due date, and assessments issued on or after 31 October come with a three-month payment window, with HMRC also warning about scams by email, calls and texts.
