- From April 2026, Child Benefit rises to £27.05 per week for the eldest child and £17.90 for each additional child, with Guardian's Allowance increasing to £22.95.
- Because payments are usually made every four weeks, families will receive £108.20 for the eldest child, £71.60 for additional children, and £91.80 for Guardian's Allowance.
- The uprating follows the 3.8% Consumer Price Index measure for the year to September 2025.
- Claimants do not need to contact HMRC for the higher amounts, though changes such as bank details or address can be updated online, and new claims for newborns can be backdated up to three months.
- Claiming Child Benefit provides National Insurance credits toward the State Pension, and households over the threshold may face a High Income Child Benefit Charge via Self Assessment.
