Overview
- Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority will hand out eco-friendly clay idols free of cost across the city over three days from August 24 to 26.
- Distribution spans 34 public locations, with sites listed by HMDA including KBR Park Main Entrance, Tank Bund, NTR Gardens, Peddamma Temple, and Press Club–Somajiguda.
- Each idol is approximately eight inches, with HMDA saying the scale-up is part of its ongoing Eco Ganesha outreach begun in 2017.
- Mobile units will also supply gated communities and IT offices in areas such as Miyapur, Kukatpally, and Madhapur to expand access.
- HMDA says the effort, run with NGO support, seeks to steer households away from Plaster of Paris and reinforce no‑plastic practices during Ganesh Chaturthi.
