HMDA to Distribute 1 Lakh Free Clay Ganesh Idols Across Hyderabad From Aug. 24–26

The drive promotes cleaner celebrations by steering devotees toward biodegradable idols, building on a practice begun in 2017.

Overview

  • HMDA confirmed it will hand out 100,000 eight-inch clay idols free of cost at 34 locations across the city between August 24 and 26.
  • Fixed distribution points span key public spots including Tank Bund, NTR Gardens, KBR Park’s main entrance, Peddamma Temple, Secunderabad Ganesh Temple, and Safilguda Park.
  • Mobile teams will deliver idols to gated communities and IT campuses in Miyapur, Kukatpally, and Madhapur to expand access.
  • Hyderabad Growth Corridor Limited will host a distribution site at Nanakramguda on August 25, according to the HMDA schedule.
  • In a separate initiative, officials in Vijayawada set clay idol-making competitions for August 26 at IGMC Stadium and urged participants to avoid oil paints and chemicals.
