H&M Files to Close Two Manhattan Stores by January 2026

The retailer says the exits are part of a broader footprint reset to support long-term growth by concentrating on stronger locations.

Overview

  • A New York Department of Labor filing lists closures at 18 Church St. and 150 East 86th St. in New York City.
  • The two stores are scheduled to shut by Jan. 19, 2026, according to the notice.
  • The filing names 62 employees as affected, and H&M says it will try to place staff in nearby roles.
  • H&M previously said just over 200 stores are slated to close during 2025, mostly in established markets.
  • The company’s global store count is about 19% below its late-2019 peak, Reuters has reported.
