Hit-and-Run Driver in Maryland Strikes Man, Removes Body from Windshield and Flees Scene

- 28-year-old Franklin Mendez was fatally struck by a hit-and-run driver in Maryland early Saturday morning. The driver was caught on camera removing Mendez from his car's windshield two miles away from the crash scene and then fleeing.
- Prior to being hit by the suspect, Mendez was involved in an unrelated minor collision two miles away. It is believed that Mendez exited his car after this initial collision and was then struck by the hit-and-run driver.
- Doorbell camera footage showed the driver stopping his car, peeling Mendez's body off his windshield, reentering his vehicle, and then driving away.
- The suspect vehicle, likely a gray Honda Civic between the years 2011 and 2017, fled the scene with significant damage to the passenger side front bumper, fender, and windshield. The car also carried a large white decal across the top of the back window.
