Historic Morrison Hotel Building in Los Angeles Severely Damaged by Fire

The fire broke out Thursday morning at the 110-year-old Morrison Hotel building in downtown Los Angeles, requiring over 100 firefighters to control the blaze in nearly two hours.
The four-story structure, once immortalized on The Doors’ 1970 'Morrison Hotel' album cover, suffered a partial roof collapse, leaving its structural integrity in question.
The building had been vacant for over a decade and was recently purchased by the AIDS Healthcare Foundation, which planned to convert it into affordable housing.
Several dozen unhoused individuals were inside at the time of the fire, with three rescued by firefighters; no injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation, with arson units involved as a standard procedure for incidents of this scale.
