Overview

• Since March 8, the Sanjivani scheme has surveyed 292,996 women in Hingoli with cancer-related questionnaires under a district initiative for early detection.
• Screening identified 14,542 women with potential cancer symptoms, leading to 12 confirmed diagnoses of uterine, breast and oral cancers as of July 10.
• Rural outreach includes health camps and bi-monthly visits from Tata Memorial Hospital’s ‘cancer warriors’ to bolster diagnostic capacity in district hospitals.
• Eight day-care chemotherapy centres are operational at district hospitals, and the state is working to establish similar units in every district.
