  • In May the Calcutta High Court dismissed Hindustan Motors’ writ petition, upholding state authority under Section 6(3) of the West Bengal Estates Acquisition Act to resume 395 acres as unutilised land.
  • Production at the Ambassador plant ceased in May 2014, and the state issued its land-resumption order in November 2022 to free up the dormant site for new industrial use.
  • The government has entered a 99-year lease of 40 acres to Titagarh Rail Systems for ₹126.63 crore to expand infrastructure for metro coach and Vande Bharat train production.
