Himachal Pradesh Unveils Rs 30-Crore Road Safety Command Centre, Rolls Out 66 Patrol Vehicles

A camera-linked hub will enable e-challans with real-time monitoring to tighten traffic enforcement statewide.

  • Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu said the Hamirpur centre will be built under the Integrated Road Safety Enforcement System.
  • The police fleet addition includes 35 electric cars, 14 interceptors, 10 wreckers and seven 4WD diesel vehicles bought for Rs 18.42 crore.
  • The vehicles are being stationed across police stations in ten districts, including Shimla, Mandi, Kangra, Hamirpur and Una.
  • About Rs 60 crore is allocated to procure 3,373 enforcement devices for distribution across ten districts under the State Road Transformation Project.
  • The government reports a three-year decline in road accidents, is modernizing the force with around 1,200 new constables and a revived B-1 promotion test, and plans a statewide anti-drug campaign.
