Himachal Pradesh to Shift 100 Government Senior Secondary Schools to CBSE From Next Session

Officials say the move aims to broaden access to a nationally benchmarked curriculum.

Overview

  • At least one CBSE-affiliated government senior secondary school will be opened in every assembly constituency in the first phase.
  • The state will form a dedicated CBSE sub-cadre, with serving teachers given the option to opt in.
  • Principals, teachers and non-teaching staff will be selected on merit, supported by performance-based monetary and non-monetary incentives.
  • The designated campuses will operate as day-boarding institutions with a focus on nutrition, sports, arts, skilling, remedial teaching, counselling and career guidance.
  • Additional posts will be created as required, with officials positioning the reform to better prepare students for national-level competitive examinations.
