Himachal Pradesh Reports 523 Cases in Illicit Liquor Drive, Says 54,945 Litres Seized Since April

Officials deploy 35 special teams statewide to sustain round-the-clock raids.

  • Excise Commissioner Yunus said seizures this financial year include 21,637.166 litres of illicit liquor and 33,308.900 litres of lahan.
  • Recent monthly operations recovered 309.340 litres in Shimla south, 2,678.225 litres in Mandi central, and 529.150 litres plus 4,870 litres of lahan in Palampur north.
  • Additional seizures included 286.09 litres in Baddi, 2,090.625 litres in Kullu, 528.350 litres in Mandi, and 286.045 litres in Una, according to the department.
  • The department said 35 special teams are active across districts, with multiple units in Kullu, Chamba, Shimla, Solan, Bilaspur, Mandi, Una, and the Nurpur police district, and coverage in Kangra, Sirmaur, Hamirpur, the BBN police district, and Kinnaur.
  • Officials reported that several operational distilleries in Damtal’s Milwan, Thakurdwara, Barota, Bela Ludacha, and Ulehriyan were seized in October and destroyed on site after legal action, and they urged the public to share tips via 0177-2620426, WhatsApp 94183-31426, and zonal lines 0177-2620426 (South), 01894-230186 (North), and 01905-223499 (Central).
