Himachal Monsoon Toll Reaches 448 as SDMA Tallies ₹4,841.79 Crore in Losses

- The SDMA’s cumulative report through September 21 records 261 deaths from rain-related disasters and 187 from road accidents since June 20.
- Rain-linked fatalities include 53 in landslides, 41 by drowning, 18 in cloudbursts, 11 in flash floods, and 20 from electrocution, with additional deaths from house collapses and falls.
- Mandi and Chamba report more than 40 rain-related deaths each, while accident fatalities are concentrated in Shimla, Solan, Chamba, Mandi, Kangra, and Kinnaur.
- Estimated losses stand at ₹4,841.79 crore, including ₹2,98,113 lakh to PWD assets, ₹1,46,385 lakh to water supply schemes, and ₹13,946 lakh to power infrastructure.
- The season left 496 people injured and 47 missing, destroyed 663 houses, partially damaged 1,046, wiped out 2,340 cowsheds, and killed more than 29,000 animals.
