Himachal CM Clears CBSE Tag for Barsar School, Unveils ₹41.52-Crore Works, Presses BJP on ₹1,500-Crore Aid

Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu used his Barsar visit to pair development pledges with a public demand for the Centre’s promised disaster relief.

  • Government Senior Secondary School Barsar will shift to CBSE affiliation from the next academic session, bringing the tally of state-run schools recognised by the board to 20.
  • Barsar hospital will be upgraded to a 100-bed facility as the state sets aside ₹300 crore for a Cancer Institute at Hamirpur Medical College and ₹100 crore for seven specialty departments.
  • Sukhu inaugurated and laid foundation stones for ₹41.52 crore in works, including the ₹1.34 crore Bumbloo helipad, the ₹17.45 crore mini-secretariat, a health sub-centre in Bani, the Dhaneta–Barsar road, and a check dam on Mann khad.
  • Infrastructure allocations include ₹96 crore to strengthen roads in Barsar, ₹37 crore for the Saloni–Deotsidh corridor, and ₹65 crore for beautification around the Baba Balak Nath shrine.
  • The chief minister challenged Himachal’s seven BJP MPs to secure the unreleased ₹1,500 crore disaster relief package announced by the Prime Minister.
